"I wanted to get involved in spreading the word. It’s just an amazing organization, and people should know that.”

Events and tours are important tools we use to help spread The Jackson Laboratory’s message of hope. National Council members and supporters are encouraged to host or organize events and tours for their home communities. Here’s how you can help:

Host an intimate reception, dinner or luncheon

Choose to host a small event at your home or at a local restaurant or club. The Laboratory can provide a speaker for your area of interest and help organize all of the logistics.

Organize a Discovery Luncheon

The National Council’s signature event, Discovery Luncheons are designed for large audiences (generally 100 people or more) and are held at hotels or conference centers. The luncheons feature a Jackson Laboratory scientist alongside a physician from a local hospital or medical practice to provide a bench-to-bedside perspective. As a lead organizer of a Discovery Luncheon for your community, you can help determine the featured topic, the location and the details. Jackson Laboratory staff will assist with all of the logistics.

Plan a tour for your friends and family

These personalized tours include visits with scientists and institution leaders, a walking tour of the campus and lunch. Tours of The Jackson Laboratory are available in Bar Harbor and Sacramento.

Create a unique experience

National Council members and supporters are known for creatively pairing The Jackson Laboratory with interesting venues, including Donna Karan and Bvlgari in New York and at Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers in Boston and Philadelphia. The Jackson Laboratory has also provided featured speakers for club gatherings, such as The Harvard Club in Boston and New York.
