Jackson Laboratory scientists are working diligently to find the keys to preventing and curing genetic diseases. They use new genetic and genomic capabilities to delve far into the root causes of disease.

To support this research, individuals, groups and foundations are helping support the Laboratory in some very creative ways.

Starting a SMARD revolution. SMARD, a devastating and often overlooked genetic disorder, gains awareness and research funding through the efforts of 12 different families across the globe. These dedicated individuals have raised tens of thousands of dollars to benefit SMARD research at Jackson Lab.

Running for Rett syndrome. Meghann Harris wants to change the future for those who have Rett syndrome. She's running the Mount Desert Island Marathon to raise funds for research at The Jackson Laboratory. The cause is extremely personal, as her daughter, Eliza, lives with the rare disorder.
